Oil and Gas Storage and Transport Monitoring System

The intelligence degree, information quantity and fault diagnostic and tolerant ability of the control valves used by oil storage tanks and oil transmission pipelines in an oil depot directly influence the reliability, stability and usability of the data acquisition and monitoring system. Usually, there are numerous and scattered control valves in a depot and ordinary control valves contain little information and the wires are complex and numerous. This to some extent complicates the design of the depot monitoring and management system. In this system, the combination of intelligent valve control devices and PLC makes the cabling of the tank farm storage and transport monitoring system concise, and the control convenient. The redundancy of PLC and the hot standby of master station controllers guarantee the high reliability of the system and also raise the automation degree of the control system.

1. Detect the temperature, pressure, flow, liquid level, concentration of combustible gas, status and other parameters of the whole tank farm;

2. Data acquisition and data processing of the oil depot as well as their storage, archiving and control;

3. Monitor the opening/closure of valves and the ON/OFF of pumps;

4. Printing of production reports, oil pump fault diagnosis and analysis, instrument fault diagnosis and analysis, and other functions;

5. Display relevant pictures, parameters and sound-light signals and alarms in color;

6. Connect to the plant information network and transfer related information.

In the design of the automation system, 3-level fault display and alarm systems are designed. Level-1 system is installed on the control panel of each control cabinet on the control site. Indicator lights indicate normal operation and fault state of the equipment. When the equipment runs normally, the corresponding indicator light will be on. When the equipment runs in a faulty state, the indicator light will blink. Level-2 fault display is arranged on the large-screen monitor of the central control room. When the equipment is faulty, fault type will be displayed in text, the corresponding equipment on the process flow chart will blink and this fault will be recorded in the historical event list. Level-3 fault display is arranged in the signal box of the central control room. When the equipment is faulty, the signal box will prompt the staff by light or sound alarm to handle the fault in time. During fault handling, faults are classified, some faults require shutdown of the system, but some faults don’t have much influence on the system, the system may work in fault, and the faults may be removed during operation. This will greatly reduce the shutdown time of the system and raise the level of reliable operation of the system.
